The Living World in Motion: Two Series of Drawings on Life’s Spiritual and Natural Foundations

Here you find new drawings from two ongoing drawing series of Rebekka Löffler that reflect on life, creation, and change.

The first series, including the works Tides and The Creative and the Receptive, delves into the fundamental forces of nature and their symbolic and philosophical meanings. It references the (Far Eastern) concept of a life force that flows through everything, viewing reality as a unified whole in constant flux. Tides focuses particularly on the gravitational relationship between the moon and Earth. The Creative and the Receptive is inspired by the symbolic significance of the sun and moon as complementary energetic states—Yin and Yang, or the receptive and the creative—that the life force can embody. Nothing is static; everything is subject to change. The creative and the receptive unite and create the world.

The second series, featuring the drawings Fruits of Life, Blossoms of Life, and Tree of Life, draws inspiration in part from stories and narratives found in various religions and mythologies. These works reflect on the significance of trees, plants, fruits, and blossoms in relation to themes such as life, creation, immortality, and spiritual growth.
